YOOOOOoooooooooooHOOOooooooooooooo!!!!!Al Davis is going out with a BANG! He wants to win and he wants it now but also wants to bring it for a few years. If Al Davis was going next year we would have gone for guys in or just past their prime but Al Has gone out and got guys in or BEFORE their prime. In DeAngelo Hall we get one of the best CB's in the league, has 4 years experience in the NFL, has been to 2 ProBowls, yet is only 24 years old and won't be 25 until 1/2 way through the season and is still 1.5 years YOUNGER than Nnamdi Asomugha who everybody loves including me. Yet is Nnamdi any better than DeAngelo Hall? Maybe and maybe not. Is CB a position of Need? no. Does DeAngenlo Hall play the run strong? Yes. Is he a great shutdown man-to-man CB? YES. Will he improve our defense? yes. Will he improve our RUN defense? maybe. Will he improve our pass rush? HECK YES!!! We will have the whole field covered with Nnamdi, Hall, Wilson, Huff, Morrison, and Howard running around. Our DL will gets LOTS of coverage sacks this year. This backfield will bring confidence to our DL. They will know not to ever give up because the chances are slim that a QB will have anybody open to throw to and will be forced to hold onto the ball for a LONG time. SACKS BABY!! This backfield will be a DT or DE's wet dream. Does this defense still have room to grow? Yes. We have many of the same players who did not perform well as a unit last year but played GREAT as a unit the year before. This shows me that this defense only needs a couple of PLAYMAKERS to make it great. Wilson and Hall fit that bill. Perhaps the DL will live up to their VAST potential. We have Kelly who has great potential, Warren who has great potential but has not lived upo to it yet, that new guy form the giants who has potential but never lived up to it, Richardson who showed great promise as a rookie last year against the run, Sands who looked unstoppable for a couple of plays last year but looked like he was thinking about the Bahammas the rest of the time. All we need is a hard hitting run oriented LB, perhaps a hard hitting run oriented SS and for the DL to live up to their potential and they will be great.........what we need are some playmakers at WR and some more young OL's. Don't count out trading more future picks for picks this year and don't count out trading the 4th overall pick for more choices. YOoooooHOOoooo!!!! This team suddenly is creating some buzz. Don't listen to the Whiners and Haters on this post and in the Media. There are haters and doubters out there no matter what the Raiders do.
Ok Getting Hall is more like what the Raiders I have known for years to do! Make a big splash in the Offseason . The last big move made was signing Randy Moss and well we know how that panned out! Moss was a unhappy player for Minnesota who was traded away . Not because his skill was demenished but he wasnt happy with the system . Now here we go again Oakland is very well knowned for not being a good system example coaching not getting along with owners its always been crazy! Today's players arent the same you cant just bring in a bunch of talented atheletes and expect them to play just because you are paying them well. I know crazy as that may seem still it doesnt quite work that way . Players yes always want money but they need leadership direction discipline and a winning attitude . A swaggar if you will Oakland has lost that swaggar after the Superbowl season of 02 and has been trying to find itself back since. I am not knocking the Hall trade reason being he came really cheap! You got a bargin about as good as you gave one up last year with Moss. Hell this even makes better sense then giving up Moss for such a low price. However it has to be made to work with Nhamdi not getting paid the huge contract you just gave Hall that might not go over to well with him I hope someone has informed him he will get paid so he can go out and do as well as he has been . Paying a Tommy Kelly big bucks and a Hall Big bucks then a guy who should have been in back to back probowls himself just a franchise tag price well makes me a little worried . He knows how brutal the bussiness is one injury and there goes his big contract! Still Oakland has the draft upcoming and I hope truly hope the draft Mcfadden this is the Man of the draft and with any luck could fall into the Laps of The Raiders Fargas still is good but Mcfadden Bush and Fargas will be a huge Tandem which Oakland needs bad! Then ofcourse Late round draft picks and maybe some more trades like trading Jordan and Rhodes for some late round selections to bring in the recievers and OLinemen needed even another QB because still Jamarcus might not be the guy if he isnt in shape! But I am excited about the Hall Asomuga tandem looks on paper like a much improved Defense!
I am extremely excited about the Deangalo Hall trade. I hear people say that they look good on paper, which they do, but remember Hall is not a rookie coming out of college - he is a "shut down" corner in this league. We immediatly say that we need help on the D line and he wont help stop the run, but the question is are we better or worse because of the trade? I sat through every game last season as many of you did and time after time saw Fabian Washington get victimized. I like Fabe, but he regressed last year. If our defense can play a consistent 8 in the box, the run game stops. People, be happy we have the best secondary in football! Stop hating on your team. And incidentally, this is not like the Randy Moss trade. It is not dependant on a great scheme; this is defense, they are going man to man.
We still have to address the DT position, or our run D will continue to suck. Sand, Warren, Joseph, and the WAY over rated Kelly will not get the job done.
