I haven't kept up with this issue but if it has not been done already,  I urge the editors of both the Oakland Tribune and the Oakland Post to get together and set up a Chauncey Bailey Award for Investigative Journalism in honor of Chauncey Bailey's accomplishments and to continue the tradition of investigative reporting within our City and County.  Maybe some in the community will consider sponsoring an academic  SCHOLARSHIP for young students within the African American community who seek to pursue careers in journalism.

Chauncey Bailey made the ultimate sacrifice of his life to bring the  truth to the people of Oakland.  This sacrifice needs to be officially recognized by Oakland's citizens and within the larger media community.
