Nancy Nadel is responsible for this. She cut police resources and voted to freeze police hiring. She encourages & condones every type of pathelogical and perverted behavior. She is a danger to our health and lives. VOTE NO ON NANCY NADEL ON JUNE 3RD TO SAVE OUR CITY BEFORE SHE DESTROYS ALL OF US!

I don't think that Nadel is solely responsible for the hiring freezes, she shares the blame with the rest of the council. Don't get me wrong, Nadel is a criminal who should not be in charge of making any decisions about the well being of Oakland's citizens, but this one is not entirely her fault. But there were some other interesting bits in the article worth mentioning. Am I to believe that a class just graduating the academy is going to become SVU investigators before they ever go in to field training? How can Chief Tucker claim that there will be 18 investigators in July just because a bunch of rookies are graduating? How will this affect the impossible promise of 803 by year's end? And what of the 28 investigators in Internal Affairs (IA)? Really, there are more bad cops in Oakland than there are murderers, rapist, robbers, etc? (Here is a little tid bit worth mentioning - there are more IA investigators than there are homicide investigators!) So this is how the city has chosen to focus its time, money and attention - investigating cops instead of criminals! Gee, I wonder why the crime rate is out of control? I can only imagine the psychological toll that takes on the officers knowing that any mistake they make will be thoroughly and timely investigated, but the armed robber or rapist they catch may never get fully investigated. It sounds to me like OPD is chasing its tail and needs to define their priorities!
