The "Cargill" land in Redwood City is well worth attention.  It is over two square miles in area, by far the largest empty parcel of property in the area.  The owner has been holding a series of public-invited meetings to discuss or explore its plans for developing the land.  If you don't know where it is, think Bayshore 101 at Woodside/Seaport -- the entire area on the southeast corner.  One can easily imagine a variety of possible uses for this extensive piece of property  -- which the owners withheld from the larger sale of bay and baylands to the public a couple years ago.  Now, we read where a local church group is going to hold its own meeting to discuss the parcel.   It would be interesting to hear your views, what types of buildings or develpments or facilities or parks or ???? would you think best for this location (and are those ideas feasible)?  We discuss this and other key local Real Estate issues on campus (CSM: "sign up today!" -- Spring classes filling up very fast now at:  www.collegeofsanmateo.edu) ... but even with our large turnouts HBstill could benefit from additional thoughtful ideas -- what's missing from the Peninsula that might be a good ingredient for location in this large piece of land?  If you want a park, how would you propose paying for it?  And, what kind of park - anything special?   Remember, this land is quite large -- is there something else that's missing or which you think would really fit in well there?  ps: I post this only to further the public discussion already underway -- feel free to chime in and post YOUR ideas, I have no dog in this race particuarly, I have no investment in the property and I do not represent its owners or anyone else.  Rather, I only think it will be nice, helpful to see some intelligent ideas discussed here.  Have at it!  And, happy new Yr!  HB
