Prisoners re-enter society

Hi everyone, I think that every person has his right to live in a society no matter even if he was a prisoner in his early life. Most of the prisoners are racial or ethnic minorities and have difficulty in re-entering the society as they are faced with poverty and this leads to crime for which they are re-arrested are convicted and re-incarcerated and this adds a burden on the government in respect of tax-payers. What are your views on this?

Fresda, thanks for your views. In Oakland too many are taking a big HYPOCRTICIAL step backwards. they want to incarcerate the small criminals in our society for LIFE and let the big ones go scott free. They only recognize "moral and depraved" behavior by thes mall crooks on the bottom of society's ladder but not the humongous crooks on top at the top of the ladder. They have tunnel vision and would prefer their neighbors and the disadvantaged be labelled, stigmatized and incarcerated for life due to the so-called moral depravity of the lifestyle than give them jobs and have a healthier society with more consumers. Recognizing moral depravity in one sector of the economy and not in the profiteering sector of our economy and society that exploits crime is a blindness akin to being morally impaired in my book.

This is a very good issue to discuss about as it is concerned with the human race and deals with the real problems faced in the society. The Second Chance Act is taken in this way and hope that it brings a new dawn for the people. I believe you can also express your views on this on savetheleft which is good place to know your comments on such issues.
