It is hard to trust the stated motives of the City of San Ramon. The city government has little regard for preserving open space or hillsides. To them it all translates into taxable revenue.

Just look at what they did with the Las Trampas Ridge property along Bollinger Canyon Road just north of the city. The Faria property was in the county and out side of the city limits. The city moved their sphere of influence line and proceeded to development it even though it was outside of the county urban growth limit. When the city processed a 800 unit project for the property the county rolled over and moved their urban limit line allowing the development. The project violates the city hillside ordinance 197 and now is in litigation but for all intense and purposes the project will go foreward in some form.

Tassajara Valley is not and will not be safe from massive development or saved for our children if it is controlled by the present City Council in San Ramon. Just look at what they are proposing for the city's downtown. There they are adding 2.1 million square feet of develop eight stores high with no regard for the effect will have on the residence of the city let on the environment. They call it 'smart growth' I call it outragous growth.

Danville should fight this land grab as hard as they can as if it was for some ones life because the Tassajara Valley is able to be lost in a blizzard of houses. Take my word for it. Jim Gibbon, SROG
