It is with sad heart that a ten year old Oakland resident may be permanently paralyzed from the waste down after a bullet entered his spine while taking a piano lesson.
Police say the boy was wounded when Jared Adams 24 who had just robbed a Chevron Gas station on Piedmont Avenue.
3 shots rang out 2 hitting his mothers car and the third hitting the the music school, smashing through the buildings walls, the piano and then Christopher Rodriguez.
Jared Adams 24 and his 19 year old girlfriend, with a stolen vehicle, ski mask, concealed handgun in split seconds have ruined the life
of a ten year old boy who like each of us have dreams. His was basketball, piano and learning about skateboards.
I'am outraged and once again innocent people are hurt by the actions of a criminal who has prior convictions for possession of a concealed weapon.
This crime is forunate that Oakland Police captured these suspects.
I do not have all the answers, I do have a voice and perhaps gun crimes should have double or triple the current penalties when a handgun is used.
I hope the wheels of justice are swift and those accountable are convicted and held responsible for their actions
I will pray for young Christopher Rodriguez, his family and his medical team that his dreams of basketball and skateboards become a part of his future.

Perhaps one of the readers may have contact with the parents of Chrstopher Rodriquez and beyond the newly created Trust Account for the ten year old, perhaps a future fund raising can be held on his behalf. If any readers have the parents contact information, please e-mail me as I would love to play a role in such a well deserving fun raising efforts for medical issues.
Perhaps students, parents and the musical community can play a role?
